أفالون هي جزيرة اسطورية تظهر في الاساطير الارثرية , كلمة أفالون تعني التفاح وفي القرون الوسطى كان يعتقد وبشدة بأنها الجنة وبأن الملك آرثر سيعود يوماً ما ويقود شعبه ضد الاعداء
الكاتب جيفري من مانموث ذكر لفظ أفالون لاول مره عام 1136 في كتابة الخيالي تاريخ ملوك بريطانيا , فقد ذكر بأن الارض تنتج جميع محاصيلها من نفسها دون الحاجة لحرثها , كانت تنتج الحبوب والعنب واشجار التفاح تغطي غاباتها ويحيا الناس بها لمئة سنة او اكثر كانت تحكمها الجنية مورغان وشقيقاتها الثمانية

Avalon is a legendary island featured in the Arthurian legend ,The word "Avalon" mean Apple and in medieval time they strongly believed it might be the Paradise and that King Arthur will return from it one day to lead his people against their enemies.
The writer Geoffrey of Monmouth wrote about Avalon for the first time in 1136 in his imaginative book The History of the Kings of Britain , he described that The land produces all things of itself , the fields there have no need of the ploughs of the farmers ,it produces grain and grapes, and apple trees grow in its woods, and people live there a hundred years or more , and it was ruled by Morgan le Fay and her eight sister

سيف الملك آرثر الكسكاليبر صقل من فولاذ أفالون , وتعني كلمة إكسكاليبر الفولاذ القاطع , اعطي السيف لـ آرثر من سيدة البحيرة , حيث كان ماراً بالبحيرة وبدون سيف رأى يدً تمتد من الماء وتحمل سيفاً وعذراء تقف على سطح الماء بالقرب منه
حياها آرثر وسألها " أيتها العذراء , أصلي لتخبريني , سيف من هذا الذي تمسكه الذراع من تحت الماء ؟ اتمنى ان يكون لي لانني فقدت سيفي
السيف لي أيها الملك آرثر , اجابته , وسأعطيه لك في مقابل ان تعطيني هدية متى ما اطلبها
بكل ايماني قال آرثر , سأعطيك ماتشائين
حسناً قالت العذراء , تقدم الى القارب وجدف الى حيث السيف وخذه مع غمده .طالما كنت محزماً بغمده فأنك لن تفقد دماً ابداً لكنك يمكن ان تجرح ,هذا هو سيف الكسكاليبر , وعن هديتي سأطلبها في وقتي
سنواتاً مضت وبعد حربه مع موردرد , كان الملك آرثر مصاباً بشدة لكنه عاد لرمي السيف في البحيرة السحرية وعندما فعل ظهرت يد وأمسكت به , بعدها نقل على سريراً ذهبي الى جزيرة أفالون بواسطة مورغان لتحاول علاج جراحه هناك لكنه لم يرى بعدها
King Arthur sword the Excalibur was forged from Avalon's steel , Excalibur word mean the cut steel , the sword was given to Arthur by The Lady of the Lake , when he was near the lake with no sword and saw an arm rising out of the water, holding up a sword and a maiden stood upon the water
Arthur saluted her and said, 'Maiden, I pray you tell me whose sword is that which an arm is holding out of the water? I wish it were mine, for I have lost my sword.'
'That sword is mine, King Arthur,' answered she, and I will give it to you, if you in return will give me a gift when I ask you.'
'By my faith,' said the King, 'I will give you whatever gift you ask.' 'Well,' said the maiden, 'get into the barge yonder, and row yourself to the sword, and take it and the scabbard with you as long as it is buckled on you you will lose no blood, however sorely you may be wounded' For this was the sword Excalibur. 'As for my gift, I will ask it in my own time.'
Years later After the battle with Mordred, King Arthur was mortally wounded he return to throw the sword into the enchanted lake when he did a hand emerges from the lake to catch it
Then he was carried off on a golden bed to the Isle of Avalon by Morgan so that she might cure his wounds there but he never to be seen again
الملك آرثر قائد اسطوري بريطاني عاش في أواخر القرن الخامس وبداية السادس ( 450 - 520 ) والذي يعتقد طبقاً لتاريخ القرون الوسطى بأنه قاد الدفاع البريطانيا ضد المحتلين السكسونيين في أوائل القرن السادس , لكن ماهي الكمية التي إقتبسها جيفري في كتابه الذي انهاه في 1138 من المصادر القديمة بدلاً من تأليفها بنفسه غير معروف حتى الان ولكن سواء كان آرثر حقيقياً ام لا , مازالت اساطيرة تحيا حتى يومنا هذا
King Arthur is a legendary British leader of the late 5th and early 6th centuries (450 - 520) who according to medieval histories, led the defence of Britain against Saxon invaders in the early 6th century ,But how much of Geoffrey's Historia (completed in 1138) was adapted from earlier sources, rather than invented by Geoffrey himself, is unknown until now , but whether if he's real or not , his legend lives until our days
